Who we are
Tarmac & Surfacing SEO is a search engine optimisation service for tarmac and surfacing contractors, run by Gary as part of Get A Trades Website, based in Scotland. Get A Trades Website is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as a data controller, reference ZC133661.
What you send us
When you use the enquiry form we receive your name, business name, email address, phone number if you give one, your website, the areas you cover, the work you ticked, anything you add in the notes and, if you ask for a free Maps heatmap, the search and postcode to check. We use these details only to review your business online, reply to you and, if you go ahead, to do the work. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share your details for anyone else’s marketing.
So that we know which marketing is worth doing, the enquiry also records how you reached the site: for example “organic search” and the search engine’s web address, or the campaign name in the link you followed. This is worked out in your browser at the moment you send the form and is not stored on your device. If you use the search check and choose to send your answers, the questions you answered “no” or “not sure” to are included too.
Our lawful basis for handling enquiry details is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. When you send the form, your IP address is passed to our enquiry service so it can limit repeated submissions and protect the form from abuse.
What the site records about visits
The site counts anonymous actions, such as the enquiry form being started or a phone number being tapped, and how far down a page you scrolled, how long the page was active and whether you were on a phone, tablet or computer. These events carry no name or email address, and no IP address is stored with them, although, like any request on the internet, the service receiving them can see the IP address it came from. They are grouped by a random code that exists only in your browser’s memory for that page view and is never saved to your device. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, nothing is recorded. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how well the site works.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The only cookie it can set is one we use on our own devices, by visiting a special link, so that our own testing is not counted; ordinary visitors never receive it. If we ever add anything that needs your consent, we will ask first.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase stores enquiries and the anonymous visit events in a database.
- Resend delivers the enquiry to us by email.
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the website.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, and Google’s servers may see your IP address when they load.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to answer you or carry out work you have agreed, and then delete them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email gary@getatradeswebsite.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
